The On Farm Communications training, a farm immersion program at the Central Lakes College Ag & Energy Center in Staples, Minnesota, offers a thorough exploration of farming. Designed for NRCS and SWCD participants, this program provides hands-on technical knowledge and educational insights into various aspects of modern agriculture. Funded through grants, participants are required to attend one session in spring, summer, and fall, with each season featuring two training days. The sessions cover essential farming topics, including equipment ride and drives, irrigation, farm economics, livestock management, cover crops, conservation practices, crop rotation and planning, fertility and integrated pest management, technology and precision agriculture, and other collaborative efforts.
