The fall session of the On-Farm Communication Training brings together NRCS and SWCD staff for a hands-on day focused on harvest, soil health, and conservation practices. Building on the spring and summer trainings, this session highlights critical fall fieldwork decisions and technologies that shape success heading into the next crop year.

Participants will rotate through a series of interactive stations, including ride-n-drive opportunities in the field. Sessions will explore:

  • Harvest Technology & Efficiencies – Hands-on combine operation with a focus on soybeans and technology that drives efficiency at harvest.

  • Tillage Ride-n-Drive – Practical considerations for fall tillage, residue management, and soil health impacts.

  • Fall Conservation Practices – Best practices for cover crop use, manure applications, tillage types, and planning for the upcoming season.

  • Grain Storage & Moisture Management – Strategies to protect crop quality, including shrink/drying methods and storage considerations.

Lunch will be provided at the Ag & Energy Center, with afternoon rotations continuing in the field. The day will close with a group discussion and wrap-up to connect learning across all stations.

This session is the final installment of the 2025 three-part training series, reinforcing the partnership between NRCS, BWSR, and Minnesota’s soil and water conservation districts to strengthen communication and technical knowledge on-farm.
