ARAT Teacher Training: July 28 – August 1, 2025

Agriculture, Robotics, Automation & Technology (ARAT) Project
Funded by the National Science Foundation – Award #2348815

The Central Lakes College Staples campus will host a national teacher training event from Monday, July 28 through Friday, August 1, as part of the Agriculture, Robotics, Automation & Technology (ARAT) project. This professional development opportunity will welcome 32 agriculture and science teachers from across the country, participating in two cohorts of 16 educators each.

  • Cohort 1: Monday, July 28 – Wednesday, July 30

  • Cohort 2: Wednesday, July 30 – Friday, August 1

This weeklong field test is part of a larger initiative funded by the National Science Foundation to introduce robotics and automation into agriculture education. Led by AgCentric and CASE (Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education)—in collaboration with Northland Community and Technical College, St. Cloud Technical and Community College, and key industry partners—the ARAT project is designed to meet workforce demands in ag tech through innovative curriculum and educator training.

The ARAT curriculum includes a foundational unit on core automation and robotics concepts, three modules focused on animal, plant, and food systems, and concludes with an open-ended capstone design project. Educators will receive hands-on training to implement this flexible, modular content in their classrooms—helping prepare students for future careers in high-demand fields.
